no more parades on main street
cuz no one comes home
no more parades on main street
cuz no one comes home
when we speak it’s silent
when we act it’s all pretend
am i complicit in the violence
if it’s something i can comprehend
i didn’t do what i needed to
i didn’t close the door or open it wide
i didn’t hold you close enough
didn’t hold a gun to the head of the flies
no more parades on main street
they called it a riot
no more parades on main street
they called it a riot
when we speak it’s centered
on anything to make us feel better
nothing feels quite as good
like the feeling that we did what we could
i didn’t do what i needed to
i didn’t throw my body on the line
i didn’t hold you close enough
didn’t a hold a gun to the head of the flies
no more parades on main street
cuz they’re all inside
no more parades on main street
cuz they’re all inside
i didn’t do what i needed to
i didn’t stop living my frivolous life
i didn’t hold you close enough
didn’t hold a gun to the head of the flies
An absolutely stellar album that crosses boundaries and borders I didn’t know needed crossing. Water From Your Eyes is easily one of my favorite bands after discovering them and this record has been endlessly replayable thus far. dragic27
