so a joke walks into a bar and says “i’m a joke” but nobody laughs, the bartender just grabs a bottle of whiskey and gives it to them and they sit there and drink it all until they pass out and have to be rushed to the hospital to get their stomach pumped and afterwards they’re released so they go home by themselves and sit in silence for two days straight until they have to go back to work and it’s really just not very funny at all
i’ve been laughing at the wrong things
but nobody told me
nobody tells me anything at all
i've been running late to the train
in a very literal way
i would blame my feet but it's all my fault
everybody's got their friends
and i've got time to spend
with anybody who cares enough to listen
everybody's got their plans
i've got plans to make amends
with anybody who cares enough to take them
i've been laughing in the wrong place
nobody ever stays
they'd rather sit than understand
i've been running late to the bus
wondering about us
no one else knows how to hold my hands
everybody's got themselves
i want to be someone else
anybody who cares enough to exist
everybody's got their fears
and i've got more to wear
anybody who cares enough to face them
